Artistic talent

I have a daughter with amazing artistic talent that I have used to my benefit when it comes to homeschooling. Today my youngest is going to do a study on ocean animals so last night I had my daughter draw some ocean animals on a poster board.

Fractions Are Fun

First grade is full of fun!!! Today we began fractions. It is amazing how the lightbulb goes off when you begin using fractions with hands on activities. No longer does the child see learning going on, rather they see fun.

Eric Carle

I know that my children have enjoyed the many books written and illustrated by Eric Carle. From the whimsical pictures to the written words his books captivate young children.

I Love You the Purplest

Teaching Textbooks

Homeschooling can be a bit overwhelming, especially if you are juggling a large family. Math is not my strength and so early on I was on a hunt to figure out how I would successfully accomplish math. Once my children reach the 4th grade I transition them to Teaching Textbooks. I absolutely love the curriculum not only because it means I am off the hook for teaching math but because the set up is amazing. Each lesson begins with a lecture with on screen visuals throughout the lecture, next is practice problems and then the student is on to the lesson. If the student does not get a problem correct the curriculum will take the student on a step by step explanation of how the problem is done. A feature that I also love is the automated grading!!! Teaching Textbooks is very helpful if you run into issues and provide tech's that will walk you through issues or problems that may come up. This is how my son celebrated the completion of Pre-Algebra.

I Am An Artist

I am an artist. My definition of art is creating something with my hands that is an expression of who I am. Art is a part of me. I can't escape the urge to create, to get out my feelings in the way of paper and glue. Or losing myself behind the lens of my camera. I am so thankful for my art. It's my own personal therapy. And in the process I am leaving my mark in the works I create. I am an artist. And there is nothing else in the world I would rather be. -Unknown-
