While the English Standard Version is not my first choice of versions to use, I want to focus on the Bible itself. I love the colored maps, landmark photos, ancient manuscripts, visual depictions of what places like (Jerusalem in the time of Hezekiah), and so on. Having these added visuals really helps to visualize Biblical times so much better. I like to be able to look at a map and see the travels. I like that there are write-ups on many of the visuals. This helps to better understand unfamiliar ways of life during the Biblical times such as Jewish Tombs and Structure of the Deuteronomic Law. In between the Old and New Testament there is a wonderful New Testament timeline as well as several articles detailing events between the Old and New. Each book of the Bible starts out with Author, Date, and Purpose followed by Contributions From Archaeology. Next, there is an Outline. The next section is The Setting of the Book and then the book begins.
