Chroma Cube ~ A Timberdoodle Review

Our family has been having fun solving block puzzles with Chroma Cube over the past month. Chroma Cube is definitely not your average game. Your brain will be stretched and challenged in ways that will make you feel absolutely befuddled. The Chroma Cube wooden tray has 12 openings and comes with 12 wooden blocks. The block colors are: black, teal, orange, mint, emerald, magenta, mustard, purple, brown, white, coral, and cobalt. The blocks can be arranged in 469,001,600 different combinations. While solutions are given on the back side of the included 25 card stock puzzle cards, there may be more ways to solve each puzzle. Chroma Cube is recommended for ages 13 and older. Chroma Cube is part of the Timberdoodle 2019 Eleventh-Grade Curriculum Kit

The solid, bright colored wooden blocks are lightweight and have
held up well to continual use without denting or paint coming off.

A convenient slot is cut out on the underside of the wooden box that houses
the 25 card stock puzzle cards.

The block simple sit into the triangular shaped cut-outs in the plywood tray.

Each of the puzzles contain clues that must be followed in order to solved each puzzle.
Each puzzle gets progressively more challenging than the last.

While working Puzzle 3, Clue 5 asked, Coral sits next to a color found in the Irish flag.
The Irish Flag? This was a learning time. My 11-year-old did not know what
the Irish flag looked like so she had to Google it to find out what the flag looked like.

 Success

Our first experience with Chroma Cube. This is Puzzle 1. This is a smile of success!

Here Gramma is reading through the instructions while my daughter is in
thought trying to solve a puzzle.

Even Grandpa got in on the Puzzle action.

Do you want to hear some of the other crazy challenging mind
bending clues that you will come up against throughout the
25 puzzle challenges!

-Two rows are in alphabetical order from left to right.
-Emerald only knows colors that are 4 letters long.
-Black know Coral, who has heard of Magenta, who can see
Mustard but can't see Black or Brown.
-One, and only one, of the clues above is WRONG.
-The middle row adds up to (23) and the other two rows are of equal numeric value.

HINT - Some puzzles rely on rules that are established in previous puzzles.

Also...

My mind was definitely stretched and I will have to admit that I was UNABLE to solve many of the puzzles. Yes, Chroma Cube kicked my behind. My kiddos also said that this puzzle cube game was definitely one of the more challenging games that they have encountered in quite some time. There were a lot of blank stares and confused looks coming from their faces, lol. It helped to tag team to solve the puzzles. Sometimes two minds are better than one when it comes to difficult puzzles such as these.

Chroma Cube is a great way to challenge your student as well as yourself or your friends. As educators we know the value of providing our students with resources to encourage their logic and deductive thinking skills. What a better way to Unblock Your Mind than by playing Chroma Cube!
