Students will get a true sense of life and history back in the time that Jesus was living. The DVD episodes utilize a wide variety of visual learning tools such as maps, paintings, models, timelines, as well as actual footage from Israel. It is truly an adventure. On his travels, Dave Stotts, takes students to over 50 ancient sites to give the student visual understand of Israel and its geography. Dave does a great job at bringing the Gospels and the historical aspects of  this very important time in history to life. Having never used a Drive Through History® series before I was not sure what to expect. Well, it exceeded my expectations.

In addition to the almost 9 hours of video included in The Gospels ~ The Extraordinary Life of Jesus of Nazarethstudents will be able to browse through the 118 page study guide that accompanies the set. Included in the study guide are fabulous photographs, pictures, and artwork. The study guide is broken down into the 18 episodes with each including study guide material containing:
  • a famous quote
  • a summary
  • discussion questions
  • scripture reading
  • side road (interesting added commentary)

"Many men go fishing all of their lives without knowing that it is
not fish they are after."
~ Henry David Thoreau ~

A sample of the discussion questions that students will find in the discussion guide are, "Discuss the evidence for the actual location of Golgotha--the place of crucifixion." and "What does the word 'apostle' mean?".

My daughter said, "Dave Stott's Drive Through History® is in many ways educational and spiritually profitable. He not only teaches you with the love of Christ in mind but passion as well. There is so much to learn in these information packed videos. He is quite entertaining, funny but yet serious too. His humor will lighten the mood and make something that may seem dull to young eyes, quite entertaining. There is so much to learn and why not learn such an important subject as this with a fellow brother of the Lord."

I thoroughly enjoyed the episodes that I watched. Once I started it was so hard to not want to finish. I will most definitely be using this Drive Through History® set with my other children this summer. This a fantastic addition to your homeschool experience. It would be great for the whole family to experience together or for a group setting. I will definitely be checking out other Drive Through History® curricula. I cannot wait to share this great find with my friends.
