CTC Math ~ A Review

My high school children have been using CTCMath Homeschool Membership from CTCMath. CTCMath has over 1,400 online tutorials to aid your student in learning math from grades K-12. CTCMath is considered a complete curriculum for grades K-8, and 9-12 is considered more of a supplemental curriculum. Your membership gives you access to all levels.

For an overview of what is covered in each level CTCMath has a wonderful downloadable lesson list for all grades about halfway down the FAQ page. To make learning math easier CTCMath now is able to be accessed on iPod, iPads, and iPhones, and Android devices. The program has many updated features. They now have a task option where you as the educator can assign lessons and have a specific due date listed. Students can now also adjust the color of their personal pages to include some very vibrant and colorful choices. I am always very excited not only when I find a program that I love but when I see that the vendor continues to improve and update along the way. CTCMath truly scores "two thumbs up".

My 10th and 11th graders have been using CTCMath for over a year now. They both love the program. My 10th grader is currently working on Geometry. My 11th grader is working through Algebra II. So many of the other programs that they have used has left them confused, frustrated, and falling behind. This program has given them confidence in their math ability.

CTCMath offers the following math courses:
  • Kindergarten
  • 1st Grade
  • 2nd Grade
  • 3rd Grade
  • 4th Grade
  • 5th Grade
  • 6th Grade
  • Basic Math and Pre-Algebra
  • Elementary Measurement
  • Elementary Geometry
  • Algebra I
  • Pre-Calculus
  • Calculus
  • Algebra II
  • Geometry
  • Trigonometry

In the upper grades, the student can either print out the lesson or just utilize scratch paper to work through the lesson problems. The student is able to redo a lesson up to three times in order to improve their score. The worksheets are multiple-choice and have a set of possible answers given. The answers are mixed up, and there are extra answers provided as well as incorrect answers in order to avoid student guessing. I require my kids to keep a math notebook with all of the problems worked out. This not only helps me know that they are working out each problem but also so that if they need help I can look through each step of a particular problem to see where they messed up.

After the lesson is complete, the student enters their answers, and the program generates your score for the lesson. There is also an option where you can enter in some answers, save your progress, and then go back and load your progress. The student can view the solutions to the problems which is a great tool of reference for missed problems.

Parents can easily access their child's progress with the parent's log-in. CTCMath makes tracking your child's overall progress simple. Once you are logged in you are able to look at your student's daily activity which includes the time the student logged into the site and when they logged out. You can view how many attempts your child took in order to answer each question. You will see how many lessons to date your child has completed along with the overall grade. The tab labeled awards displays the awards (platinum, gold, silver, and bronze) based on overall grade that your child has received. Both detailed and summary reports are available to view or print via either an e-mail or PDF download. CTCMath has truly taken ALL OF THE WORK out of the equation for you as a parent. I truly have never used an online program with such detailed reports.

Last year I had the privilege of reviewing CTCMath for the first time. After using many math curriculums throughout the years I would definitely say that CTCMath is one of my favorite. Here is a link to my review of CTCMath from 2015.

When my year long subscription ran out there was about a lapse of three months before it was renewed. I was able to log back in and everything that my children had done previously was still saved and accessible.

I truly love CTCMath and would highly recommend this math curriculum to others. You will not be disappointed.
