Accountable2You ~ A Review

I recently had the opportunity to sign up and use the Family Plan from Accountable2You. Technology is a part of our everyday life and with technology comes great responsibility. In order to keep control and accountability with regards to what our children or those that we are responsible for search and view, Accountable2You offers many plans to fit your needs. They offer an Individual Plan, a Family Plan, a Group Plan, and a Small Business Plan. You are just 3 steps away from accountability. Create an account, install on devices, and set up accountability. It is really that simple.

Accountable2You Mission
"Accountable2You is built on the concept that we can find in
Proverbs 27:17 : 'As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.' In other words,
one person holding another accountable for their actions.
We are motivated by Galatians 6:1b 'Keep watch on yourself, lest you too be tempted.'"

A wide variety of devices and systems are supported. To see the complete list click here.

With the Family Plan you will get:
  • Up to 20 Devices
  • Unlimited Accountability Partners
  • Child User Accounts
  • Time Limit Alerts
  • Real Time Reporting
  • E-mail Reports
  • Instant Text Alerts
  • Manage Objectionable Word List
Being a family of 8 we would have no problem filling up most of the available devices allotted to the Family Plan. We are an Apple family so I installed the iOS app on most of our iPads, iPods, Laptops, and iPhones. It should be noted that the iOS app will not monitor the entire device like the Android app. You must also have iOS or later to run the app. I was excited to see Accountable2You in action.

Here is a list of the plans offered by Accountable2You.

The time limit option doesn't actually lock the user out of their device, rather it just notifies the accountability person that they are using the device outside of the specified times set. The time limit alerts are only available for the Family Plan. There is a GPS tracking feature to view where a specific device/person is at. Real time alerts will keep users accountable.

My Thoughts
Overall, I think that the premise behind Accountable2You is good. While the internet is full of amazing, helpful, and fun information it is also a hotbed for trouble. I am a big proponent of monitoring what my children do on the internet. With that said, it really wasn't the best fit for our family. The biggest issue for us is our 15 year old son. He tends to get caught up in games and such and needs limits. I prefer using an app that actually locks him out of using the internet during certain hours of the day. So far as filtering, he is not allowed to delete the history on his computer and device. That keeps him accountable without feeling watched. Many of the controls that Accountable2You have in place are already exist on our computers and devices for free. The upside to Accountable2You is that it is all in one app verses multiple like we have been using. I would strongly encourage others to check out Accountable2You. It really is a great product and has so much to offer.
